LAB made UK partner for European civic education initiative

Learn About Britain is delighted to have been appointed as the lead UK partner for an important pan-European civic education initiative.

THE CIVICS, a pan-European organization that aims to support civic educators is implementing a project “Mapping civic education in Europe” – supported by the German Federal Agency for Civic Education / bpb. The programme is a dynamic initiative continuously evolving by adding new countries to the first-ever pan-European virtual map of civic educators.

Since 2021, the CIVICs have been able to reach out to civic education actors from 21 countries, both in non-formal and informal education, identifying the topics covered by civic educators, their target groups, and their cooperation with others. Additionally, they analyse the needs of civic educators to help inform the work of those supporting civil society in Europe. Now this work is coming to the UK and as lead UK partner, we are inviting fellow civic education organisations to take part.

Get involved

We invite civic educators across the UK to get involved in this initiative by filling out the questionnaire following this link which will take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

We would very much appreciate it if you would share the link among your networks, via newsletter or social media, and help us reach a wide range of organizations. The results from the questionnaire demonstrate the relationships between civic education actors in civil society, by simultaneously giving visibility to you and others in the field. Our mapping provides useful information for international and national civil society organizations, grant-making programs, networks, researchers, academia, and finally for THE CIVICS and its mission to support civic educators throughout Europe.
